where legacy lives
43 coveted acres
Our estate lies in a secluded fold of the Halter Valley — elevated in both position and purpose. Framed by oaks and ridgelines, the estate encompasses a mosaic of vineyard blocks shaped by diverse exposures and soil compositions. Rooted in deep gravel beds and protected by a natural amphitheater of the Mayacamas Range, our vines grow in harmony with their surroundings. This unique environment fosters slower ripening, preserving both freshness and structure.
At the heart of the estate stands the Baldrige House, a lovingly restored 19th-century farmhouse that anchors our vision for the future. Juxtaposed against this modest farmhouse is the more contemporary barn. The old and new buildings show the confluence of past and present, a physical representation of Jeremy Nickel’s vision to honor history while building for the future.
farming and stewardship
sustainability
Our approach to farming is both regenerative and deeply personal. We have made it our mission to move away from synthetic inputs and towards farming with organic practices and fertilizers. Today, weed management is achieved through sheep grazing, shoveling, and low impact tractor mowing. Each year, we straw steep areas in the vineyard for erosion protection. We use our natural water sources with restraint and care, and are a proud Fish Friendly Farming certified estate. These aren’t trends — they are long-term decisions made in service of the land.
These efforts are led by Jim Barbour, whose five decades of vineyard management in the Napa Valley ensure that each individual block of our estate receives unwavering attention, down to the individual vine. Jim and his team’s commitment to clean viticulture is complemented by our winemaking team’s belief that stellar fruit can be blended into a world-class wine with minimal intervention.
