Vintage Notes:  After two challenging growing seasons in Napa Valley we were rewarded with a near perfect season in 2012. The weather was ideal at bud break and throughout flowering and fruit set, which resulted in a large and healthy crop. The summer months had warm sunny days and cool foggy nights, which allowed the fruit to ripen slowly. The fall rains held off allowing the grapes extended hang time so that the fruit was able to gain layers and layers of complexity. 2012 was an absolutely wonderful classical Napa Valley vintage.

Tasting Notes:  “A deep, dark black-purple color with very little rim variation greets you in a glass of TVH 2012. I was not completely prepared for the ultra intense nose on this wine reminiscent of luscious Napa blackberries and blackcurrants. After the first wave of ripe fruit, secondary notes of violets, vanilla, smoky tobacco and damp clay flood your retro-nasal cavity. What I love about his wine is the complexity between fruit, earth, floral notes and the spiciness from the french oak. The palate is true to the nose with the same intense black fruit, freshly-tilled earth, clove and allspice and dark flowers filling every corner of your mouth. Medium acid holds all of these elements nicely together. There is a slight burn from the alcohol and the tannins are very tight which is characteristic of wines from TVH in their infancy. After 30 minutes, the wine softened up nicely without losing any power on the nose or palate. This experience concludes with a very long finish - always the sign of a well-made wine. And with TVH, you are never disappointed - 2012 true to form." – Randa Warren, Master Sommelier 2007
