The Vineyard House 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
"TVH continues to blow its neighbors out of the ring with their 2010 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. It is opaque in color with its black and purple hues that coat the glass with inky tears. The nose is intense with deep, dark and slightly brambly blackcurrant fruit joined with black cherries and essence of blackberry jam.
The new French oak is a touch raw but you expect that in a young Cab of this caliber and it will mellow out in 6-12 months as the wine starts to come into its own. A slight green herbal note is barely detectable and it seems to add to the complexity of the wine. Sweet smoky cherry tobacco and crushed gravel join this monster of a Cab.
All in all, the wine has its characteristic lush and concentrated fruit, an interesting touch of bramble, smoke, stone and multiple layers of pleasure culminating in a very long and spicy finish. It drinks well now and I expect it to continue to be fluffing its feathers 12-14 years from now."
